16th Wine Country Runs Half Marathon, 5K, & Kid’s Grape Stomp

What: The Wine Country Runs Half Marathon is set in the heart of California’s scenic Central Coast, an area famous for wineries, natural hot springs, pristine beaches, Hearst Castle and much more. Starting and ending at the beautiful River Oaks Hot Springs this mostly paved course takes you over rolling hills, through picturesque vineyards and down along the Salinas River.

After the race take in breathtaking views as you enjoy a complimentary breakfast bar, live music, raffles and the post-race award ceremony. Accompanying events include a 5K Race and a Kids’ Half Mile Grape Stomp. All runners receive an official race T-shirt, and both male and female first place winners of the half marathon run win their weight in wine.

What: The Great Western Bicycle Rally (GWBR) is a 47-year old event located in Paso Robles, California, and takes place on every Memorial Day Weekend. Visiting for the First Ever Horsemen’s Re-Union? 

What: 20 World-Class horsemen, 40 un-started horses, and 6 days of real horsemanship.

20 skilled horsemen, a mix of well-known clinicians, professional horsemen and ranch cowboys, will start 40 head of 2 year and 3 year old horses over six days. At no other event, anywhere in the world, has the public witnessed this many horses being started by more top horsemen in one place, at one time, all working without pressure of the clock or a prestigious title.

Besides great displays of horsemanship and colt starting during the day, there will also be a Horsemens & Sponsors Trade Show followed by evenings of entertainment featuring Autograph Sessions and Round-Table Discussions with the Horsemen. There will be Chuck-Wagon Cook-Offs and Wine Tasting from various local Wineries.

Out of all of the hotels in Paso Robles, we were honored to have the 2012 Miss America Laura Kaeppeler stay at the Paso Robles Inn this past weekend. Crowned Miss America on January 14th in Las Vegas, Laura traveled to Paso Robles County to attend the Wellness Community Mother’s Day Fashion Show at the Templeton Equestrian Center.

During her stay at the Paso Robles Inn, she enjoyed cuisine from the Paso Robles Inn Steakhouse and chatted with guests enjoying their Mother’s Day brunch.  Laura was even gracious enough to sign autographs and snap a photo with our head Chef Kevin Fryburger!
